THE JAZZ MIND

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

The jazz mentality, the fuck you I do what I want, how I want. I do not pander to others and for those that don’t understand me, I don’t compromise, I keep doing what I know, what I feel is me.
I don’t fear travelling down this path even when it seems no one is travelling with me and there is no one listening. I just play the way I play knowing that it comes from a pure place within….
Melodramatic of course but the fact is the jazz greats rolled this way, there was no belief that the music they created would bring any mega monetary rewards, there was no desire to please in order to find success……..
And the need to please, this is the problem that revolves around many creatives today, so many individuals are constantly trying to find ways to please, to find acceptance from the cultural elite, the purveyors of taste.
Fair enough of course but when you spend so much time trying to please others that you no longer place yourself within your work, when what you do is devoid of you and can no longer be distinguished from anything else within your genre that is a damn shame

Chuck D of the group Public Enemy speaks of the jazz mindset in a recent interview, check it out

MUSLAMIC RAY GUNS

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

The BNP and other such nazi type organisations are all rather scary setups.
With all the bother boot underclasses being recruited and used as foot soldiers to do the violent stuff I kinda feel sad that we are all pitted against each other by the clever old Manipulating overlords that run the country……..
any way this is hilarious

BLACK SPADE/ ALOE BLACC

Monday, March 28th, 2011

Real creativity, real art, real soul, the realness….I get disillusioned sometimes when I get exposed to all the populist mass appeal bullock that is thrown at me by the evil chaps at ‘New world order headquarters’.
But real creatives are out there, there are humans making beautiful expressions because they can’t do any thing but that…..they are genuine, sincere and heartfelt individuals who make not for the monetary reward but for the reward of making something that is felt and understood in a genuine and sincere way by all the real genuine beautiful people out there.
You don’t have to sell your soul to be succesful in this world, I suppose it’s what your idea of what success is really.

BlackSpades album has many a groovy tune and Aloe Blacc has made in the song Femme Fatale a proper piece of soul music….and there are many artists out there that are striving to make something of substance, progressive and real…thank fuck for all these people…….

LA BOUND

Sunday, March 27th, 2011

The works for the LA show were shipped out the other week and are now sailing across the atlantic in a big fat chubby boat, I sure am hoping they are happy and safe in their little crate homes.
I can’t wait to unveil my new body of works, I’m sure the LA pack will love my series of A list celeb portraits………what?? I hear you say….well I’m fed up of painting dishevelled normal humans, no one understands that stuff…..pics of all of our favourite hollywood stars, the ‘beautiful people’ is the way to make it big in this game.
‘Icon art’ why didn’t I get more involved in that stuff earlier on in the career….I mean us mere mortals are happy for the media to brain wash us into believing we ain’t worth shit but some overpaid pampered wooly is, why am I trying to be clever and think any different,
My work is all about Image and style now and bollock to painting with any integrity……..arrr shut up dude. What sort of twonk am, being all worthy and using sarcastic humour? don’t bother Matty
Any ways, the show begins on April 29th and I’m very excited to be getting out of ‘Big Society’ London for a little bit.

ROB SAMPLE - FEDERAL BIKES

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

The beautiful chap that is Robby boy Sample recently began a commission with Federal Bikes to paint portraits of five of their 360 degrees turning stunt pulling luny BMX bandit riders for a new ad campaign they are doing.
Rob was filmed in his studio as he worked on the paintings and the resulting short can be seen here…..
It’s always a pleasure to see another artist slaving away in their studio, the process of producing a painting is rarely witnessed by anyone else
All we see is the finished article so we never get a true sense of what the artist has been through to make the picture and the wacky thing is, for all the work that goes into making that picture, we the viewer inevitable only stare at it for a matter of seconds before we move on to the next activity of the day.
For an artist, in the studio, there is so many things you go through. I feel like I go on a journey with all of my pieces, all the decision making, anguish, fury, and in my case extreme hypothermia (as I’m such a scrooge mc duck and never put the heating on.)
I do believe that every artist should go on a journey with all their work, it means that they give a shit about what they have just produced and haven’t just spunked one out for the sake of it.
It’s great to see an artist putting their heart and soul into their creations and rob is one of those artists, big up the Sample master Robert

LILO THOMAS - SEXY GIRL

Monday, March 21st, 2011

A wonderful cheesy ass video from when the world was maybe a little more innocent.
Obviously back in the 80’s it wasn’t that innocent being as it was the decade of opulent greed and many very, very dubious fashion atrocities of which I obviously never was involved with as I was way too innocent and sweet back then…obviously.
