The current theme has been greatly inspired by working in house clearance and those whom i worked with. It seemed we were employed to remove all physical trace of that person’s material life. A majority of homes cleared were of elderly persons, whom on passing; their family removed all they wished, and sometimes abandoning personal items massed over a life time. These objects, photos, letters, clothes, books and records contain a left over imprint of this person whilst alive and dwelling in that home, but soon these items were distributed, destroyed or disposed of. Belongings accumulate over our lives that hold such significant meaning, but then ultimately becomes worthless rubbish on our death.
This collection of new paintings work as a cartoon, with several connecting narratives running through them. This work also pulls reference to paintings of the 16-17th century.
